Charts for Computers and Computer Navigation Systems
ChartPack raster charts on CD-ROM are manufactured by Maptech, a privately-held company that also produces ChartKit electronic charts and marine navigation software.
ChartPack charts are produced as proprietary, 2-part rasters that were some of the first electronic marine charts developed. Each chart consists of a .hdr file that identifies the chart number and carries other cartographic information and a folder of graphic images. The ChartPack format is supported by the following marine navigation software packages:
Other marine navigation packages may support ChartPack charts; check your user's manual for compatibility or e-mail us for additional information.
All raster scans are at a resolution of approximately 200 dpi and are made from NIMA (formerly the Defense Mapping Agency; producer of U. S.-manufactured charts for foreign waters), Royal New Zealand Naval, Caribbean Yachting, and other private paper charts. Colors are consistent with parent paper charts. Harbor, ocean, and planning charts are bundled on CD-ROM's in regional groups. Individual charts are available on floppy disk at $24.95 each.
